There are many tools out there on the Internet like BibGuru, MyBib, Google Scholar, Cite This For Me, Citation Machine, BibMe, and EasyBib, or even options in library databases themselves that will help you to generate citations. These tools will often give you mostly correct citations, but are also prone to frequent errors and incomplete information. Even if you find them helpful for getting started with citations, we highly recommend checking the results against the official handbooks or library guides. With practice, you might find that doing citations by yourself ends up being faster than waiting for these websites to load, plus you won't have to deal with the many ads that they like to throw at you!
Citing your sources properly is very important while writing a paper (and at other times!), but it can be a confusing process. While librarians and Research Help Desk student workers are happy to help with any citation questions you may have, we also recommend the links below if you would like additional help.
