Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD)

The American Academy of Audiology is the world's largest professional organization of, by, and for audiologists. The active membership of more than 12,000 is dedicated to providing quality hearing care services through professional development, education, research, and increased public awareness of hearing and balance disorders.

AAPPSPA is a professional organization comprised of speech-language pathologists and audiologists who own private practices. AAPPSPA is led by a volunteer Board of Directors who work diligently to fulfill AAPPSPA’s mission in the vision of the founding members of 1964. The Board plans the Annual Conference and provides and maintains networking opportunities for AAPPSPA members.

The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) is the national professional, scientific, and credentialing association for 198,000 members and affiliates who are audiologists; speech-language pathologists; speech, language, and hearing scientists; audiology and speech-language pathology support personnel; and students.

The goal of ASHA's Practice Portal is to facilitate clinical decision making and increase practice efficiency for audiologists and speech-language pathologists by providing resources on clinical and professional topics and linking to available evidence.

ASHA's vision is to make effective communication, a human right, accessible and achievable for all. We achieve this by empowering and supporting audiologists, speech-language pathologists, and speech, language, and hearing scientists through advancing science, setting standards, fostering excellence in professional practice, and advocating for members and those they serve.

The stated mission of the CSLD is to help individuals with communication disorders reach their full potential through family-centered services.

The Council of Academic Programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders is dedicated to promoting academic excellence, visionary leadership, and collaboration among communication sciences and disorders academic programs.

The National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD), part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), conducts and supports research in the normal and disordered processes of hearing, balance, taste, smell, voice, speech, and language.

The National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA) is the only national student organization for pre-professionals studying communication sciences and disorders (CSD) recognized by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
