This guide is intended for students enrolled in First Year Inquiry (FYI) classes at Augustana to become more familiar with library resources, tools, and services. Using the navigation menu on this guide, you can find help to:
If you would ever like additional help while researching for FYI or another class, you can always reach out to your FYI librarian. You can reach out via email, by submitting a research request form to set up an appointment, or stop by the librarians' offices on the main floor of the library. Research consultation appointments are typically 30 minutes long and take place in either the librarians' offices or virtually. For more information on how to contact your librarian, see the "Chat with a Librarian" page linked on the navigation menu.
We offer several online tutorials and how-to guides for help with using library spaces and research tools. Four of these tutorials will be required as part of your FYI class. Please do not forget to download your completion certificate at the end of each tutorial -- you will need to do so in order to send it to your professor! Check with your professor to confirm when these tutorial certificates will be due.
*Authority and Lateral Reading tutorials will be the only required tutorials for transfer students in LSC.
**Primary vs Secondary will be required for any sections that visit Special Collections.
Tredway Library's chat research-help service is staffed by Augustana librarians and students. When a student is staffing chat, there is always a librarian on-call to help as needed.
