Tredway Library Prize for First-Year Research

Rules for Submission

  • Projects must have been created as part of FYI 101 or FYH 101. Entries from Honors 102 are not permitted.

  • Only one submission is permitted per student. This means that students may only submit a research paper OR a creative project, not both. 

  • To receive the prize, the student must return to Augustana for their sophomore year. 

  • Successful submissions will show clear use of library materials and services, including research databases, course-embedded library sessions, individual research consultations, and/or other library resources. 

2025-26 Library Prize Timeline

Academic year 2025/26 (Fall, J-Term, and Spring semesters)

Applications will be collected during two submission periods, which will be combined into one competitive pool at the close of the second submission period in May 2026. If you miss the early submission deadline in December, applications will reopen midway through Spring semester 2026. 

 

December 2025: Early submissions are due the Friday after Fall semester finals, which is December 19, 2025. 

May 2026: Regular submissions are due the Friday after Spring semester finals, which is May 29th, 2026. 

September 2026: The judges will meet during the early weeks of the following academic year to review submissions. 

October-November 2026: Prize winners are contacted, announced to campus, and officially recognized with a celebration event in the library.
