HIST 133: American Environment (Leech) - Special Collections Guide

This is a course-specific guide for students enrolled in HIST 133 with Dr. Leech.

Welcome!

This research guide is for students enrolled in HIST 133 with Dr. Leech, and is intended to help you complete the assignment connected to your visits to Special Collections.  In this guide, you will find information about the items you encountered during the class sessions and information that will enable you to use the Augustana Observer & Rockety-I database.  Please use the menu on the left-hand side to access the relevant information.

For additional guidance on resources that can help you investigate various aspects of Augustana's history, there is a general research guide available here:

Special Collections: Researching Augustana College History

NOTE: Some of the sources included in the college history guide are available outside of Special Collections and some are available online.

You are welcome to return to Special Collections on your own to continue your research if you would like to look more closely at any of our materials or if you need additional research assistance.  The reading room is open from 1:00-5:00 p.m., Monday-Thursday and you can also email us with your questions at specialcollections@augustana.edu.

UPDATE 3/23/2020 - The Special Collections reading room is closed and all Special Collections employees are working remotely.  We will continue to provide reference/research assistance via email, but please understand that without access to our physical holdings our ability to answer questions will be limited.  To communicate with us at this time, we ask that you use email only: specialcollections@augustana.edu.
