HIST 333: Health & Disease (Leech)

Resources for the disease biography and health trend project in HIST 333.

For the disease biography, you are to use course materials, as well as primary and secondary sources from your own outside research, to learn about the history of a disease of your choosing. Specifically, you will investigate:

  • historical perceptions about the cause of the disease,
  • historical ideas about treatment and prevention, and
  • how these perceptions and ideas changed over time.

This section of the guide contains two sub-pages:

  • Find Primary Sources. Digital repositories of historical documents related to health and medicine, as well as historical medical journals, newspapers, and magazines from Augustana's collections.
  • Find Secondary Sources. Databases for locating journal articles and books written by contemporary historians about your topic.
