This issue focuses on the library's current free trials and resources. To see a full list of our free trials, look at our A-Z Resources list, under "New / Trial Resources" that is located towards the bottom on the right hand side. 

In addition our free trials and resources, make sure to stop by the Tredway Library to view our Black Lives Matter display (or view it virtually). This display was done in collaboration with Black Student Union, who suggested book titles and supplied recommendations of resources to learn more about Black culture.

Social Explorer (free trial through June 30th)

Database description: Social Explorer visualizes and interacts with data, create maps, charts, reports. Explore hundreds of thousands of built-in data indicators related to demography, economy, health, politics, environment, crime and more.

Black Freedom Struggle in the U.S. (free website)

Database description: Explore the open primary source documents from historical newspaper articles, pamphlets, diaries, correspondence and more from specific time periods in U.S. history marked by the opposition African Americans have faced on the road to freedom.

Academic Video Online (free trial through March 31st)

Database description: Comprehensive video subscription to more than 66,000 titles spanning the range of subject areas including anthropology, business, counseling, film, health, history, music, and more. The following movies are included with this resource: John Lewis: Good TroubleThis Little Light of Mine: The Legacy of Fannie Lou Hamer, and The African-Americans: Many Rivers to Cross? 

ProQuest Historical Newspapers: Black Newspapers (free trial through March 31st)

Offer essential primary source content and editorial perspectives of the most distinguished African American newspapers in the U.S. Titles included are Atlanta Daily World; The Baltimore Afro-American; Chicago Defender; Cleveland Call and Post; Los Angeles Sentinel; Michigan Chronicle; New York Amsterdam News; The Norfolk Journal and Guide; The Philadelphia Tribune; and Pittsburgh Courier.

Newspaper Archive (free trial through March 31st) 

Access to more than 400 years of newspapers, obituaries, and family history records from 32 countries and all 50 states.

Women's Magazine Archive (free trial through March 31st)

Database description: The backfiles of leading women’s consumer magazines of Ladies’ Home Journal, Good Housekeeping, Better Homes & Garden, Chatelaine, Parents, and Redbook foster investigation and interpretation of history, culture and society relating to gender/family roles, social history, health, consumerism, fashion and more. Coverage up through 2005.
