Remember that the peer-reviewed study you find must meet certain criteria:
- Must be content from peer-reviewed journals
- Must be from a journal published in the United States, the United Kingdom, or Canada
- Must be published after 1990
- Cannot be from an online-only journal (e.g., PLOS One)
The above criteria represent the minimum standards required to meet the expectations for your lab report and your "popular press vs. peer reviewed" assignment.
- The peer-reviewed article you find for your lab report must also address a population similar to the population for which you have collected your own data (because, for example, you couldn't effecitvely compare data from college athletes to a study of a cohort of elderly folks with degenerative illnesses)
- Please follow the above criteria to find your academic source for your "popular vs. peer-reviewed" article. For suggestions of how to find high-quality popular articles, consult the suggestions in the "popular sources" tab above
