FYI 101/2: Traylor

Library resources for Garrett Traylor's First Year Inquiry students!

In this Guide

This guide is meant for students in Garrett Traylor's FYI classes at Augustana College. This guide can help you:

  • Get familiar with the library
  • Start the research process
  • Identify databases helpful to your research, find reference materials, books, and scholarly articles
  • Search the web effectively
  • Apply techniques for evaluating sources
  • Cite your sources!

If you ever need additional help while working on assignments for this or any class, you can reach out to your FYI 101/2 librarian, Garrett Traylor. You can communicate with them via email (garrettntraylor@augustana.edu) or by setting up a research consultation appointment. Research consultation appointments are typically 30 minutes long, and take place in either my office (Library 222) or virtually (via Google Meets or Zoom). Scroll down or click the yellow "Have a question?" box on the right side of this screen to use our live chat service to connect directly with a librarian or Research Help Desk student worker to have your library and research questions answered (generally staffed M-F 10am-4pm, 6pm-9pm -- see the "Ask a Librarian" tab on the left for more details).

We also have a number of self-guided tutorials for using a few of the library's resources that can help you get started with research:
