FYI 101/2: Traylor

Library resources for Garrett Traylor's First Year Inquiry students!

Welcome

Welcome! You've reached the FYI 102 (Keehn) course page dedicated to providing library support for assignments in your class. Your class will meet twice in the library during the spring term, covering the following topics:

  • Mar 12: Misinformation and evaluating sources.
  • Apr 16: Research support day.

This page will also include some "best bet" databases for supporting your research in this class.

Library Lesson 2: Apr 16

Today we will be focusing on providing hands-on research time for you to get started on your research assignment with a librarian available to ask questions and provide help. To briefly summarize the assignment:

Research Proposal

As you develop your thesis and arguable points, consider the Getting Started With Research page in this guide; it will help to recognize what kind of thesis and points are researchable. You will need at least four sources supporting your claim, including one scholarly and one popular source. You may also want to consider counter claims or opposing viewpoints. You will also need an additional two YouTube videos connected to your topic.

You will also be writing an annotated bibliography in MLA style for the sources you find. You can find more information on the Citing Sources page in this guide.
