After an item is overdue for 35 days, it reaches “Lost” status. At that time, patrons are billed for the replacement cost. The minimum replacement cost for books is $60 and the cost for audio-visual materials is $100. For library materials whose value exceeds the minimum replacement cost, the costs may be higher and are set at the discretion of library personnel.
In some instances, with prior approval, patrons may have the option to purchase a new, identical, legally produced copy of the lost item. Upon receipt, the copy will be subject to approval by a librarian before being accepted and added to the collection. Contact the Circulation Department before attempting to replace an item.
If items are found to be billed in error, the replacement cost will be waived.
