Gus the Viking at Circ Desk Checking Out Items

Most items in the Tredway Library can be checked out at the Circulation Desk on the second floor of the library.  Please bring your Augustana ID card with you to check out any materials. To learn more about check-out periods, please refer to our lending policy

If our library catalog, ALiCat, within OneSearch indicates that the item you want to check out is available here, but you can't find it, please come to either the Circulation Desk or the Research Help Desk (located on the second floor) for assistance in finding the item.

Patrons are responsible for all checked out items on their account. Items are not allowed to be checked out on someone else's card if the card owner is not there.

Items may be renewed in the following ways:

  • Online: Items on your account can be renewed by signing into your account on OneSearch.
  • In person: Come to the Circulation Desk on the second floor of the library and ask to have your items renewed. Bring your Augustana ID with you.
  • By telephone: call the Circulation Desk at 309-794-7310 and ask to have your items renewed.

Some items in the library are non-circulating, meaning they are not allowed to be checked out. The following items are considered to be non-circulating:

  • Magazines
  • Newspapers
  • Print academic journals
  • Maps
  • Reference books
  • Zines
  • Faculty publications

The Tredway Library also has several technology items available to be checked out at the Circulation Desk:

  • Small USB drives
  • Portable DVD player

Having Others Pick Up Items

Faculty and staff may have library items, including items requested through I-Share and Interlibrary Loan, picked up and checked out on their behalf by departmental student workers, spouses, etc. if they have given permission for that to occur. Permission can be given through written permission, a phone call or email to the circulation department, documentation from a departmental secretary that a student worker has been assigned to pick something up, etc.
